Hard-struck by the Bihar famine of 1964-65, the people of Madhubani had to shift from agriculture to other means of livelihood. Thus started the commercialization of this form of decorative paintings and it shifted from walls and floors to sarees, dupattas, rumals and ‘hand made paper cards’.
The uniqueness of this pack of cards is that no two cards have the same design making each one of its kind. Fishes, serpents, birds, turtles and trees make the theme of each card. Though unique the common thing among them is the double line border patterned in a similar way which gives conventionality to them.
