A typical Madhubani painting, depicting a vibrant, colourful and harmonious village scene.
Essentially practiced by the women folk, Madhubani is an exclusively feminine school of folk painting. Deviating from the orthodox school, simple everyday life was of great interest for the women Madhubani painters. They portrayed their beliefs, customs and creativity with abstract human figures mostly in linear forms.
This painting, with all the features of Madhubani painting, is a symbol of feminine ecstasy. The very theme indicates its domestic origin. Women doing their daily works are painted gracefully using bold and vibrant colours. Satrangi colours of the rainbow are used, depicting youth, amity and vigour. Tube-wells, buckets, mugs, etc portrays the triviality of the situation, but the colours and flowers emphasize love and amity. The conventional double line border, though without pattern, adds a traditional and folk touch to it.
With its feminity, amity and ethnicity, it is a much appealing piece for the lovers of this form of folk art called MADHUBANI.
ARTIST: Center Jha, of Jitbarpur, Bihar ; called so because he runs a center for teaching this unique art form of Madhubani to the youngsters in the region.
